COUNTY BALANCE-SHEET. Tlie Kiwi lea County Council has rcceivocl its 1939 balance-sheet from the Auditor-General duly certified as correct. Swimming Club. At the Feilding Amateur Swimming Club’s eml of season dance, held on Wednesday, the Mayor (Mr T. L. Seddon) presented the trophies won during the season and congratulated the winners. The function was well attended and in every way was a success. Debating Club. At the annual meeting of the Ivorero Debating Club on Wednesday officers elected were: President, Mr J. H. Mason ; secretary and treasurer, Mr L. W. Penliey; committee, Messrs A. L. Brown, Stewart, and H. V. Hubbard. Ten minute talks were given by Messrs Penliey, Brown and Hubbard, the subject being “If I Were a Dictator.” Manchester Street School. Two important changes in the Manchester Street School staff will take place at the end of tlie term, when Miss Frazer, who has been infant mistress for the past six years, will retire on superannuation, and Mrs Sandbrook, who has also been on the staff for 17 years, is to give up teaching and will be moving to Wellington.
