BULLS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, April 16. Mr and Mrs I). G. Howard have re turned from Wellington. Mr N. 11. Anion visited the Empire City during the week end. The gol£ season was officially opened on Saturday. The weather was fine, though cold and windy, but a good number of players took part in the opening Canadian foursomes, the winners being Miss l l ’. Field and E. Carter. In the- absence of the president (Mr K. W. Dalrymple) who is' in Southland, the gathering was addressed by Mr A. W. Amon, who commented on the improved state of the links and wished all an enjoyable season. Rugby football practices have been fairly well attended at Bulls, Ohakca and Parewanui, and during the week-end a game was played at Bulls between Air Force and the homo players, Air Force winning easily. The Bulls side was a weak one, the death of a well-known Maori keeping, several natives from playing, and it is expected that a, fairly strong first fifteen will he fielded against Marton Old Boys on Saturday. 4 The Air Force team is a strong one, and unless transfers interfere with .its personnel, (his club should go well in the Manawatu senior competition. The Flock House team will be a trifle light, but the lads are in good training, and appear to be very keen. A tangi is being held at Parewanui at present, Mr J. Governor, a well-known Maori, having died in Bulls on Saturday last. The lafe Mr Governor was very well known in Rangiotu, Bulls, Parewanui and Wanganui, and leaves a widow and grown-up family. A donation of £5 to the Fighting Services Appeal has been made by Mrs G. Dunford, Raumai Road.
