Tlie British High Commissioner (Sir Harry Batterbce) arrived at Timaru yesterday from Dunedin and was accorded a civic reception by the Mayor (Mr W. Tweedy). Sir Harry addressed the Chamber of Commerce and then proceeded north.—Press Association. Mi A. F. McMurtrie, chief inspector of primary schools, becomes AssistantDirector of Education at the end of the month. He will be succeeded by Mr G. E. Overton, now senior inspector at the head office. Mr D. G. Ball, senior inspector of native schools, succeeds Mr Overton. —Press Association.
