MOTOR EXPORTS

A motor export group has been formed on the basis of the overseas organisation already established by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, which has its own trade commissioners' in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Burma and Ceylon. The export production plan comprises motor-vehicles of a basic trade value of £12,000,000 annually, and motor parts and accessories' of the value of £3,000 000. Mr W. E. Root, chairman of the group and president of the. society, said that the figures did not necessarily represent the full extent of the export drive. Throughout the first seven months of the war the export of 1000 vehicles a week had been maintained. The Empire demand had been exceptionally good and increased numbers had also been sent to many foreign markets.
