EFFECTIVE ANSWER TO NAZIS. I?EMARKABLE FIGURES. (British Official Wireless.) Received April 18, 10.20 a.in. RUGBY, April 17. A feature of the Board of Trade figures released to-day is the remarkable increase in exports, which last month exceeded in value those in any earlier month of the war, notwithstanding the Easter holiday. The exports figures for March were £41,455,8 U, against £37,402,395 for February. In 1939, when Easter occurred during April, exports fell off by 16 per cent. The figure for the present month is only £IBO,OOO less than for March, 1939, when there was no Easter holiday. The largest increase during the month has been in the vehicles group, which amounted to £900,000. Imports in March were £108,543,254, compared with £95,638,991 in February and £76,021,721 in March, 1939. Re-exports amounted to £3,600,01X1. United Kingdom imports for the first three months of 1940 increased by £89,817.605 over the same period of 1939. Exports increased by £799,730.
