A telegram from the French Premier (M. Reynaud) to Mr Chamberlain, expresses, on behalf of the French people, admiration and gratitude for the Royal Navy, which “has added a glorious page to its annals and has inflicted on the enemy a wound which will not be healed.” Mr Chamberlain, in reply, telegraphed: “The successes of the Navy are a fresh proof of the determination of the peoples of our two countries to fight resolutely until victory is
won.”
