{From Our Own Correspondent.) LONGBUItX, April 16. The Women’s liibtitutc celebrated its eighth birthday recently. Members were present from the Kairanga and Tiakitahuna Institutes. The function took the form of a dance and flag 600 party. The hail was appropriately decorated. Competitions were won by the following: Hag 500, Mr and Mrs G. Davey and Mr and Mrs L. Clark (Kairanga) ; lucky Gay Gordons, Mr A. Fletcher and Miss N. Murray ; Monte Carlo waltz, Mr and Mrs Young; lucky cups of tea, Mr F. Parker (Auckland) and Miss Tapp. Mr G. Frederick won another competition. Mrs Davey was called upon to cut the handsome birthday cake, which was decorated in the institute colours and had eight candles. Miss L. llearsey, of the Tiakitahuna Institute, lit the cai /es and Miss M. Rowlands, also of Tiakitaiiuna, extinguished them. Mrs Davey spoke on behalf of the Kairanga members, and Miss M. Rowland on behalf of Tiakitahuna. The president (Mrs \\& Fletcher), assisted by the secretary (Mrs J. Martin) presented the points prizes. The music for the dance was supplied by a professional orchestra. Among those present wore: Mesdames W. Fletcher, in black crepc-de-chine and silver coatee; G. Davey, wine velvet; L. Hill has returned to Rongotea after being the guest of Mrs S. Okc.
