(From Our Own Correspondent.) MTLSON, April 12. At the monthly meeting of the school committee, owing to adverse weather conditions it was decided to forgo the annual picnic and give the children an afternoon party at the school instead. It was decided to ask the Wanganui Education Board for additional accommodation for the clnlctren’s cycles. The headmaster reported the roll was the lowest for many years, there being onlv 102 children attending. Mr Lange had judged the childrens garden plots; Air Dickson had lectured on Australia; and other visitors to the school included Airs Badcock, superintendent ot sewing, and Nurse Cox, schooll nurse. .1 ho swimming sports were not held this year owing to tlie cold weather. Mrs Eaton had donated a framed picture of the signing of the Trcatv of Waitangi to the school;. and chi' Iren’s books were donated by Airs McKenzie. The annual meeting of the Alilson branch of the Labour Party was held recently. Members stood in silence for two minutes as a mark of respect to their late leader, Rt lion. AI. J. Savage. Those who had held office for the past two years wore reelected. The balance-sheet was adopted. Delegates to L.R.C. meetings are Messrs Leo and Beattie. A series of ouclire parties are to bo bold to augment the funds of the branch. The officers arc; Mrs Fechan, president; Air Hoskins, vice-president; Mr Bonnet to. secretary; Mrs Leathley. auditor; committee, Mesdamcs Fechan and Leathley, Alessrs Beattie and Lee.
