GRAND POPULAR CONCERT.

Up lo a decade ago the Palmerston North Orchestral Society for nearly 40 years presented to music-lovers programmes of works ol the great composers, and many citizens have at limes deplored llio necessity of the society going into recess. Realising that, despite the wireless programmes, there was still a wish to hear good music presented by performers of merit, Miss Marie Moffatt conceived the idea of organising a good concert in aid of the Patriotic Funds. Her efforts havo been crowned with success and, assisted by Mr C. L. Mowlem. a symphony orchestra of 30 instrumentalists has been rehearsing for some weeks. On Saturday night, at the Opera House, this orchestra will contribute to a programme which will please all music-lovers. Miss Moffatt will play ji Mendelssohn pianoforte concerto accompanied by the orchestra. This will be a brilliant number. The orchestra will be heard in four items and there will be vocal and other instrumental presentations. Altogether the concert is worthy of a capacity house and as the prices of admission are on a low scale considerable to the Patriotic Fund should result. Ihe box plan opens at Messrs C, M. Ross Co., Ltd., on Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock where reserves can be made at no extra charge.
