MOTORING INTERESTS.

MANAWATU ASSOCIATION. The committee of the Alanawatu Automobile Association met last evening, Air AV. H. Brown presiding. Others present were Dr. F. Scott, Alessrs E. 1L B. Holben, 11. It. Morton, T. R. Lees, T. M. N. Rodgers, It. J. Mclver, AV. J. Amies and H. N. Rowe. As a mark of rospeefc to the late Prime Alinister (lit. Hon. AI. J. Savage) these present stood in silence. The North Island Alotor Union iorwarded a copy of a legal opinion relating to the liability' of the Railway Department and road users in respect of the use of level crossings. It was decided to obtain further copies of this opinion and consider them at the next meeting of the administration committee. A letter was received from Air I. AI. N. Rodgers commenting on the position relating to the desirability of third party insurance being applied where an unlicensed vehicle was involved in an accident. After a genera! discussion it was decided to recommend to the North Island Alotor Union that no turther action he taken in this matter in the' meantime, hut that the matter should bo kept in mind and reviewed at a later date. The report of the signposting committee stated that a patrolman had accompanied the secretary on a comprehensive survey of the roads to the west of AA’hakarongo in order to ascertain the condition of existing signs, with a view to replacements and the necessity for further new signs. As a result of this survey it was proposed to start repainting all signs in this area immediately. Fifty-seven new members were elected. It was decided that the subcommittee dealing with boundaries should start activities again, meeting at least once a week, and should receive fii'l powers to expedite the mfttter. IVIr Lees was added to the committee. It was decided to make a grant ol £3 3s to the Free Ambulance.
