CHESS CLUB.
The Wood vi lie Chess Club opened its 1940. season on Saturday with a game between teams chosen by the past, president (Mr T. S. ]?. Schaw) find the new president (Mr E. .T. Harding). There was a good attendance of inembers and the enthusiasm in evidence augurs well for the success of the club’s activities.—The match resulted in a win for the past president’s team by three games to two. Results are as follows, players in the past president’s team being mentioned first: R. Morris beat T. Smith ; T. S. R . Schaw lost to 0 .Morris, sciir., G. Hartridge lost to .T Mc.Lauchlan, A.
