KUMEROA DOG TRIALS. CONCLUDING RESULTS. Record entries and large attendances of the public made the Kumeroa Slicep Dog Trial Club’s 26th annual gathering, which concluded on Saturday, tne most successful yet conducted by the club. Despite the heavy entries, necessitating the allotment of an extra day to the trials, there was no lntch in the organisation, which reflected grea credit on the efforts of the efficient hand of officials under the leadership of the president (Mr AY. J- Smyth) and the secretary (Mr I. R. Macltay). The judge (Mr L. D. Cameron, oi Masterton) said it had been a pleasure to see such a high standard ol performance maintained throughout the trials. Particularly good work had been done in yarding, and it was noticeable that very few competitors had failed in this section. The winning | run by S. E. Herbert’s entry had been jan exceptionally smooth and finished : performance throughout. In the long j head event strong competition was in evidence, and the first six dogs had I been difficult to separate. Mr Cameron | considered the work in the huntaway i division not as good on the average as that in other sections, though he had experienced difficulty in distinguishing between the placed dogs. The officials were to be congratulated on the expod it ions manner in which the trials had been conducted, and the action of farmers of the district in allowing their employees to attend the meeting was a very fine gesture on which they were to be complimented. He had no doubt thev would be rewarded by their men’s improved handling of sheep dogs in the futuru. . At the close of the gathering, Mis C. Mackie, wife of the patron, presented the trophies. In congratulating the winner, the president thanked competitoi'6 and officials for the manner in which they had co-operated and brought the trials to a successful conclusion. He also extended thanks to the judge, to Mr C. H. Cranfield for allowing his property to be used, and to Mr G. H. Morgan, who had lent the j sheep.
