DEVASTATING FIRE.

OUTBREAK AT COLON. LONDON. April 14. A disastrous fire has been raging in Colon, at the Atlantic end of the Panama Canal, where 20,000 people are said to bo homeless. The flames were reported to be threatening Government and canal administration buildings. Colon stands on the Caribbean Sea at the eastern end of tlio Panama Canal, and is 47 miles by rail from Panama, at the other end of the canal. Founded in 1850, it was first named Aspin.vnll, but the name was later changed to Colon in honour of Columbus. Its population is about 30,000.
