“PIRATE" PARTY.
To further their good work in the' raising of funds for patriotic purposes, the Younger Set of the lied Cross Society held a novel “pirate’’ party on Saturday evening at Miss Beth Parkes’s studio. To gain entrance to the dance ball the guests were obliged To pass through a pitch dark passageway, containing numerous surprises reminiscent of a “ghost train” route. The walls of the studio were covered with black and ornamented with white skulls and crossbones. A large crowd, presented themselves in various interpretations of what the well-dress-ed pirate should wear. Others were attired in many-coloured costumes, and were striking disguisedly to represent the most villainous types.
