TABLE TENNIS.
TA KARO CLUB. In the annual report of tlie 1 akaro i able Tennis Club the chairman (Mr C. E. Griffiths) expresses his satisfaction with the very successful season the club enjoyed doting 1939. On behalf of the committee thanks arc convoyed to all who helped to make the season a profitable one. M lie bank balance of £6 12s lOd was an indication of what could he achieved with good organtsalion and willing workers. Rive*, of the Takaro players wore chosen for tlie ]\lanawatu representative teams —Miss C. Bcarsley, Messrs G. Sykes. D. AlcMurray. L. Inkpen. and C. ilarvev. In the annual Manawatu district championships the men s singles event was won by Air G. Sykes and the B grade singles by Aliss C. Bcarsley. The club entered four teams in the association inter-club matches in which the A and C grade teams were runners-up. The association held four handicap tournaments during tlie season and a Silver Cup was offered to the player with the host performance in the four matches. 1 lie successful entrant was Aliss C. Bearsley, of the Takaro Club, and Air 11. Stenborg also won one tournament. Special . mention is made of the efficient and painstaking workcarried out hv the boil. secretary and treasurer (Mr F. Pinkney), largely through whose efforts the club showed a credit balance.
