EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD,” APRIL 10, 1910. At the Manawatu Racing Chili’s fixture, Mr M. Melrose’s Trnganini won the Dominion Cup of £3OO on the second day. A train accident, which might have had serious consecjuen ,cs, occurred in the Manawatu 'Gorge when a train which was just emerging from a tunnel crashed into a huge rata log. The engine was damaged but nobody was injured. Crs E. Goodbohcre and G. Harford were the candidates for the Jedding Mayoralty. The Mayor (Mr W. J. B. Trewin) was retiring in favour of Mr Goodbehere.
