SOCIAL SECURITY
(To the Editor.) Sir.—Having abstained from contentious newspaper correspondence (due to reverses, I presume) \V. E. Cutler lias : decided to renew, his acipiaintam-e with the public, even alter having received several k.o.’s from such correspondents i as “Ajax,” “Householder,” and “Black | Out.” He now decides to make an atI tack on “Girl Worker.” Social security has many faults. Does Mr Cutler ; consider it right that “Girl Worker” ; and others should contr.bute towards a ; young man’s sustenance, one. say, who had a good job on a farm but decided j to return to Palmerston North to live ! on social security with his parents also ; receiving ocial security ? He stated that ! “Girl Worker's” letter bore the stamp of the “Standard” political propaganda type. Mr Cutler must not get confused ' with the Labour Standard, which never has any space for political opponents, i I consider the “Evening Standard” has been very generous to Mr Cutler, j Palmerston North can boast of a free j Press; there was a suggestion that the ■j Press he muzzled, but like the Kuku market gardens it did not boar lruit Mr Cutler should know that it is not i “cricket” to abuse whose who have befriended him. —1 am, etc., BOY WORKED.
