PETROL RESTRICTIONS.
(To tho Editor.) Sir, —Alav i comment briefly on the latest petrol restrictions from a farmer’s point of view f First of all I’m sure everyone will agree as to tlie fairness with which the Minister has acted, but nothing lias been said in regard to an extra supply for the lar11101’ s holiday. The season is nearing its end and farmers are still in the air regarding a petrol allowance, which our city friends were g.ven over the Christinas holidays when it was impossible for dairy-farmers to avail themselves of it. Surely now we are not going to be let down, and to go on to another season without a little break. Another point is the amount allowed for motor-cycles. Most of the young farmers to day rely on motorcycles as their only means of transport to and from town, and their meagre ration has been cut down to three gal.ons. Hie position is that a young chap in the city is allowed the same amount for his motor-cycle as is ia motor-cyciist twenty or thirty miles j out. This is not at all fair. As there is an acute shortage of farm labour today and the call is lor more produe- . thin, these little things all count. —I jam, etc., j COCKLE.
