KAIRANGA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) KAIRANGA, April 11. At the month'y meeting of the Women’s Institute Mrs G. Davey presided. A group committee meeting will be held next month, and Mrs Davey and Miss Eglinton are to attend. It was decided to have a sixpenny bring-and-buy stall next month. Mrs Davey, on behalf of the members, presented Mrs McClelland with a gift and posy, posies also being presented to Misses Eglinton and kilgour. The points prizes for the year were also presented, the winners being; Flower competitions, Mrs E. Kilgour 1, Mrs R. Mitchell and Airs 11. Turner, equal. 2:'senior competitions, Mrs E. Kilgour .1, ' Mrs R. Mitchell 2, Airs W. AleClclland 3; junior, Airs Parkin. 1, Miss Kilgour 2, Aliss Monger 3. AJrs Parkin demonstrated how to work tapestry and showed some beautiful pieces of work she bad done. Airs Coup sang two wings, the accompanist being Airs 11. liirner. Community singing was also indulged m. The hostesses were Alesdames Jensen, Jewell, Kilgour, and Miss Kilgour. Competitions for Alay arc: Hot water bottle cover made from old material, and throe best blooms (variety). The hostesses 1V? A; c r, n ? os Leam y> Lewis, Mallctt ancl McClelland, The annual meeting of the Table Tennis Club was held on Tuesday night. Air F. Cummins presided. ’I be balance-sheet showed a balance of £B. Air Cummins congratulated the club on the most successful year they had experienced. Officers elected arc: Chairman, Air F. Cummins; secretary, Mr R. Ahldon; captain. Air A. Williams (all re-elected) ; committee. Airs Sicverts, Misses .T. Newman, I. Passev, F. Eglinton and Air W. Harrison. At the final school committee meeting before the election, there were present Messrs K Kilgour (chairman), G. Collis, O. Gollis, G. Davey and the head teacher (Mr I'. Cummins). Iho roll number is now 51, with an average attendance of 46. The school s environment certificate was endorsed for 1939. A new experimental plot is to he prepared and grass sown around the baths.
