OFFICERS PROMOTED.
PALMERSTON NORTH COURT. CONSEQUENCE OF REGRADING. Consequent on the recent regrading of the Public Service, a number of transfers affecting officers of the Justice Department in Palmerston North and district have been announced. Mr C. R. Inder, Clerk of the Court at Levin and Otaki, has been transferred to a similar position at Riverton, and will be replaced by Mr H. J. Henderson, of Riverton. Mr G. E. Pollick, deputy-Registrar " of the Supreme Court at Palmerston North, has been promoted to clerk and deputy-registrar at Wellington, and will be replaced by the promotion of Mr R. C. Claridge, Clerk of the Court, Dannevirke. Mr E. A. Parlane, at present on the staff of the Magistrate’s Court at Palmerston North, has been promoted to the position of Clerk of the Court , at Te Kuiti and Otorohanga, and he will be replaced by Mr T. M. Brooks, on the staff of the Stratford Court. Inquiry concerning the general effect of the recent regrading shows that there has been material improvement in the status of officers in the Justice Department, and the rapid growth of Palmerston North may be gauged by the fact that the position of Registrar of the Supreme Court at Palmerston North has, in the recent regrading list gazetted, been raised from Class 3 to Class 1, a larger step than appears to be disclosed by a comparison with other Court centres previously listed in the same grade. This position is occupied bv Mr H. B. Reid. Mr Pollock, who was formerly stationed at Feilding, has been on the staff of the Palmerston North Court for two years, and Mr Parlane has been at this centre four years. Both are popular and efficient officers who, with the Supreme Court Registrar, will be congratulated on their promotion.
