HIGHER REVENUE.

CHRISTCHURCH CUSTOMS RECEIPTS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 31. An increase in the revenue collected by the Customs Deprtment in Christchurch compared with the receipts last year is shown in the returns for January. The increase in the total from all sources is £2579. Customs duties collected in January amounted to £107,126, as compared with £108,734 in January, 1937. Sales tax receipts increased bv 1899 from £43,145 to £45,044, and the petrol tax increased from £22,481 to £23,647.
