WOOL FIRMS’ PICNIC.
OUTING AT FOXTON HEADS. The annual picnic of the Feilding wool firms was held at Foxton Beach on Saturday’, when there were over sixty present. In the morning a cricket match was played in which G. Dewe’s team beat S. Smith’s team by two runs. The luncheon and tea arrangements were in the hands o professional caterers. Swimming and games were indulged in and a most pleasant day was enjoyed. The results of the athletic events are as follow: —Small boys’ race, B. Telfer 1, Devonport 2. Drinkwater 3; small girls, F. Drinkwater 1. C. Drinkwater 2, M. Burt 3: single ladies, Miss Peck 1, Miss Smith 2. Miss Legge 3; married men, C. Pask 1, T. Reid 2. S. Thompson 3; married ladies, Mrs Telfer 1, Mrs Dalzell 2, Mrs Legge 3; putting the shot, Garlick 1. Wilson 2, Gupwell 3: men’s long jump, B. Smith 1, B. Matson 2, Wilton 3; men’s 100 yards race, Telfor 1, Thompson 2; single ladies’ 75 yards, Miss Legge 1, Miss Peck 2, Miss Smith 3; ladies’ 50 vards walk, Mrs Dalzell 1, Mrs J. Dewe 2, Mrs Wilson 3; men’s 220 yards, Wilton 1. Gupwell 2 Pask 3;’ throwing the cricket ball, Wilson 1. Garlick 2, Kendall 3; tmr-o’-wnr. H. J. Dewe’s team 1, R. JWilliams’s team 2.
