GENERAL ELECTION

DESIRE FOR TEST. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Jan. 31. “There seems to be a universal desire that the 1938 elections should be a straight-out test between the two opposing parties,” said Hon. A. Hamilton (Leader of the National Party), on his arrival at Auckland to collier with the Auckland organisation. Mr Hamilton added that the National Party would meet the election with confidence, as a good type of young men was coming forward. “The candidates already chosen include Messrs Kerr (Nelson), Kidd (AA’aitaki), T. Macdonald (Mataura), and AV. Sullivan (Bay of Plenty), all a young and vigorous type such as any electorates should be proud of,” Mr Hamilton said.
