After five furlongs Dark Shadow, who started slowly, joined Rulette in tho lead and they raced abreast into the straight from Knight of Australia, Jonathan, Inver, Grateful and King Rey. Jonathan then moved up to tho leaders, but Kilonsa came fast outside to win going awav by a length from* Dark Shadow, who beat Gay Roso by a head.- Rulette was' fourth, followed by Grateful, Knight of Australia, Star Artist and Parquette. Bachelor King remained in command into tho straight, where Tosh challenged and Rollicker was bandy. In a 'fast finish Tosh, Suleiman, and Tray Bit crossed the line in that order, necks apart.
