(From Our Own Correspondent,) RONGOTEA, .Tan. 31. Airs A. E. Croad was the guest of honour at a very pleasant farewell gathering' held at the heme of Airs F. Wright, when a number of friends mot to say good-bye. (Air Croad is retiring from business in Rongotea and the family will take up their residence in Carterton.) Regret was expressed at Mrs Croad’s departure, and gratitude for her willingness to take a share in any worthwhile effort in the interest of Church or community during her five years cf residence. Afternoon tea was enjoyed and an expresison of thanks to Airs Wright for her hospitality closed a pleasant afternoon. Airs A. .T. Will is spending a holiday with, friends at Waitarcre Beach. Air W. Aipcv has returned from a fishing trip in the, north and reports that the concluding three days of a visit to Taupn were par ticularly suecos'Jul. Rev. J. W. Alartin, successor to Air 11. .1. Crawford, is expected to arrive at Rongotea on Tuesday, from Kaiti, G'sborne. Numerous tributes were paid by Clntrrb officers to the work of Air Alartin in Gisborne, and deep regret expressed that be was leaving. A warm welcome awaits Air and Airs Martin and family in Rongotea- The. friends of Air C. AlcDonell will regret to Irarn that bo is seriously ill at bis homo in Rongotea. suffering from pleurisy and pneumonia
