VOYAGE OF RESEARCH.

DISCOVERY II ARRIVES. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Jan. 31. In the course of her fifth commission on oceanographical research in the Antarctic, the Discovery II arrived this morning, having called at Campbell Island when steaming north from the Balleny islands, which on this trip were properly charted for the first time. She will remain here a week. The personnel of the ship numbers fifty-three. The Director of Research is Dr N. A. Mackintosh, who is leaving the vessel to return to England. Mr H. F. P. Heedman will be in charge of the scientific work when the cruise is continued. Lieutenant L. C. Hill, 0.8. E., It.N.R., is in executive command. The vessel will sail a south-easterly course to begin a long cruise through the Pacific sector of the Antarctic, her next port of call being Tort Stanley. From there the cruise will be continued on the. same lines through the Atlantic sector, and at about the beginning of May the circum-Polar voyage will end at Capetown. She will carry as the New Zealand Government representative Mr A. M. Rapset, fish biologist, who will study the methods of research employed by the Discovery.
