BUDGE’S TENNIS TITLE. ADELAIDE, Jan. 30. J. D. Budge overwhelmed J. Bromwich in the final of the men’s singles of the Australian tennis championships, 6 —4, 6—2, 6 —l, in spite of gallant efforts by the Australian to hold off the relentless attack. Budge played magnificently. In the women’s singles final, Miss Bundy (United States) heat Miss Stevenson (Victoria), 6—3, o—2.0 —2. The mixed doubles semi-finals re-sulted:—-Long and Miss Wynne (Victoria) beat Mako and Miss Workman (United States), 6—2, 6—3; Bromwich (New South Wales) and Miss Wilson (Victoria) neat Crawford and Miss Coyne (New South Wales), 5—7, 6—4, 6—4. JAPAN’S CHALLENGE. ZONE UNCERTAIN. TOKIO, Jan. 29. The Lawn Tennis Association has decided to challenge for the Davis Cup in 1938, but has not decided whether the team will play in the American or the European zone.
