CITY COUNCIL PICNIC.

ANNUAL GATHERING. The annual picnic of the staff of the Palmerston North City Council was held at Paekakariki on Friday under ideal weather conditions. A party of some 500 travelled by special train and a most enjoyable day was spent in bathing, foot races, apd other competitions. A strong committee, with Mr C. C. Aitken as chairman, Mr It. W. Ball as secretary, and Mr G. Franklin as liandicapper, left no stone unturned in a desire to give young and old a good time. Proceedings opened with a tiny tots’ parade, over 40 taking part to receive a prize. Residents of the city had donated prizes for the events of the day.
