LIVINGSTONE CHAMPION.
AUSTRALIAN SINGLES TITLE. SYDNEY, Jan. 30. The Australian bowling championship singles concluded on Saturday with a well-merited win by the New Zealander, F. Livingstone, of Opelvunga Club. In the semi-final Livingstone beat Balfe (Victoria), 32—26, after 39 heads. Livingstone in the final met Low, of Belmont, New South Wales. Livingstone showed great stamina, especially in "the last stages. of the p-anie. -Before the last head his scoie stood at 29. He then drew three to win again, 32—26. He played very coolly throughout, and that mainly accounted for his victory. Livingstone was Dominion singles champion in 1936. FOR EMPIRE GAMES. SYDNEY, Jan. 28. The New Zealand bowls competitors for the Empire Games contests have been selected as follow: _ Singles.—Livingstone. Pairs: Macey and Denison. Rinks: Whittaker, H. Robertson, Jury and Bremner. The members of the New Zealand bowling team made a presentation to Mr Whitten for the excellent work he had done on behalf of the tourists.
