AUCTION SALES.
The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy., Ltd., report having held sales at Himatangi, Rangiwahia, Rongotea and Apiti during the past week. Himatangi.—A large yarding of fat and store cattle came forward and, although there was not much buying
competition, practically the whole yarding was cleared at prices which, although not fully up to late rates, were quite satisfactory to the vendors. The fats were all ex-dairy sorts and sold at prices ranging from 20s to 25s per 1001 b. Rangiwaliia.—The yarding of lambs and, ewes was fully up to advertised numbers, but only a small number of cattle came forward. The lambs were of fair to medium quality, wether lambs selling at prices ranging from 10s 3d to 14s 9d, and ewe lambs ranging from 14s to 24s according to quali ity. Woolly b.f. lambs made from 14s 2d to 16s and shorn b.f. lambs of medium quality made 10s. The lines of ewes that were offered attracted much interest, 4 and 5-yr ewes selling at 22s and a pen of 2-th ewes sold at 28s Id. Apiti.—The inclement weather of the two days preceding the sale somewhat lessened the advertised entry, but a fair yarding of lambs sold well, woolly b.f. lambs making up to 16s lOd and woolly w.f. wether lambs up to 14s 7d. A good yarding of cattle cam© forward and practically a total clearance was made under the hammer. The following are some of the sales: Weaner Jersey heifers, £2; m.s. P.A. weaners, £2 4s 6d; weaner P.A. steers, £2 8s and £3 3s; 2i-yr S.H. steers, £5 6s; fat S.H. steers, £9 10s. Rongotea The excellent sale of tat stock at the previous sale on the 12th inst. attracted an unusually large entry of cattle and the yarding was probably the largest that has come forward for many years. However, the expected competition among buyers wtis not forthcoming and several lots were passed in, although those that met the market had quite satisfactory sales. Pigs were not up to previous sales, but a good yarding was cleared under the hammer. The following are some of the prices:—Pigs: Weaner, 13s 6d to 15s; store, 17s to 26s 6d; baconers, 29s to 38s; porkers, £2 os. Fat cattle: Jersey steers, £6 15s; cows, ex dairy, £4* ss, £5 2s 6d, £5 15s to £6 7s 6d; heifers, £5 14s. Store cattle : Cows and calves, £5 12s 6d to £7 ss; cows, ex dairy, £1 10s, £2 5s to £3 7s 6d.
MANGAWEKA SALE. Dalgety and Coy., Ltd., report on the Mangaweka sale held on Thursday, when approximately 3000 sheep, principally lambs, were offered. There was a representative gathering of buyers and. a firm sale resulted for all classes. We report a total clearance at prices on a par with recent sales. We quote: Forward w.f. wether lambs, 15s to 16s 6d; medium w.f. wether lambs, 12s to 14s; cull wether lambs, 6s to 8s 6d; ewe lambs. 15s to 18s lOd; 2-th. wethers, 18s to 20s; breeding ewes, 13s.
