PEACE OFFER.

REJECTION BY FEDERATION. WASHINGTON, Jan. 26. Mr John L. Lewis (chairman ofthe committee for Industrial Organisation) has offered conditional peace to the American Federation of Labour. His offer was that the latter would absorb the Committee for Industrial Organisation or . vice versa, but he reiterated that the Committee for Industrial Organisation was unwilling to surrender. Mr William Green (president of the federation), who is at Miami, rejected the offer, which he termed as “the same old thing” and identical with the impossible peace plan Mr Lewis previously advanced. “We are ready to resume negotiations as soon as the Committee for Industrial Organisation takes the initiative, but the latest statement by Mr Lewis, does not offer a basis for discussion,” lie said.
