MARKET REPORT.
PIGS, POULTRY AND PRODUCE. The Dominion Auctioneering Co., Palmerston North, report conducting their visual weekly market on Thursday to a large attendance of buyers. A good entry of pigs came forward, prices snowing an improvement on last week’s rates, good weaners realising up to 16s each and slips to 18s. A very large entry of poultry was yarded, there being a small improvement in prices. We quote as follows: — Poultry.—Best W.L. lions, from 3.5 6d to 4s 6d per pair; light hens, from 3s to 4s per pair; heavy hens, from 4s 6d to 5s per puir; heavy cockerels, from 5s to 6s 6d per pair; smaller cockerels, from Is to 4s per pair; W.L. pullets, from 4s to 6s each; 15.0. pullets, from 4s to 6s. each; young ducks, from 4s to 6s per pair; old ducks, from 3s to 4s per pair; young geese, 3s each.
Pigs.—Small weaners, from 10s to lls each; best weaners, up to 16s; slips, up to 18s; stores, from 20s to 245; light porkers, to 335. Produce. —Peaches, best dessert, from 4s to 7s per half-case; cookers, from 3s 6d to 4s per half-case; plums, dessert, from 4s to 7s per half-case; cooking plums, from 33 to 4s per half-case; nectarines from 6s to Ss 2d per case; apricots, best, from 7s 6d to lls per case; ripe, from 2s 6d to 5s 6d per case; tomatoes, from 4s to 7s 2d per quarter-case, from 7s 6d to 10s per half-case; apples, Astrakhan, from 3s to 4s per half-case; Gravcsteins, from 5s 6d to 7s 6d per bushel; cookers, from 4s to 6s jjer bushel; raspberries, from 7s to lls per tin; black currants, from 7s to 8s 9d per case; cucumbers, from 3s to 6s per banana case; cauliflowers, from 3s to 4s 9d per case; cabbages from 6s to 10s per sack; marrows, from Is 3d to 3s per case; beans, from 2s 9d to 4s 6d per bag; peas, from 9s to 21s per bag; lettuce, from 3s 9d to 7s 6d per case; parsnips, from 7s to 8s per caoe; carrots, from 3s to 6e 6d per dozen bunches; potatoes, from 6s 6d to 7s 6d per bag.
