Mr and Mrs W. Cottier are motoring to Auckland to-day, where they in future will reside. Mrs M. Wolfshaur, of Palmerston North, is the guest of Mrs A. Smith, of Inglewood. Mrs Cranston and Miss M. Cranston, of Milverton Avenue, Palmerston North, are visiting Auckland. Mr and Mrs R. E. Small, of Queen Street, have returned home after spending a holiday in Hawera. Mrs A. J. Alexander, of Waverley, is spending several weeks in Palmerston North. Mrs J. Carmini, of Palmerston North, is the guest of her sister, Mrs W. Clough, Hamilton. Miss J. Webster, of New Plymouth, is spending a holiday in Palmerston North before proceeding to Wellington. Miss Betty Mcßae, who is visiting Wellington, will return to Palmerston North at the week-end. Miss J. Robinson, of Palmerston North, who has been spending a holiday at Milford Sound accompanied by Miss C. Robinson, of Riccarton, anil Miss L. Fraser, of Opawa, is now visiting Christchurch. Rev. F. 0. Ball and Mrs Ball have I returned to Martinborough from a I visit to Palmerston North, where they were the guests of Mrs Ball’s mother, Mrs Cowburn, Linton Street. Miss B. McDonald, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. T. McDonald, of Carroll Street, Palmerston North, who has been a member of the staff of the Terrace End School, has received an appointment as sole teacher of the Taoroa Road School, near Taihape. Guiders from all parts of New Zealand have gathered at a training camp which is being held in Inveresk, Canterbury, representatives being present from Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill, Gore, Hawera, Mahgaweka, Marton, and Manawatu. The camp commandant ! is; Miss M. Burgin, Red Cord diploma guider. who is in charge of training in New Zealand, and Miss R. Herrick, chief commissioner, is also present. The site has been donated to guiding by Miss IT. Elmslie, who is herself a guider, and a log cabin for use in wet weather for countrv dancing and games is to be built. Miss Mcllraith, district commissioner of Christchurch, who represented New Zealand at the international camp held recently in Sweden, gave an interesting account of her experiences.
