BRITISH PROBLEM

JUVENILE DELINQUENCY. CONFERENCE TO BE HELD. HOME SECRETARY’S VIEWS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) , (British Official Wireless.) Received January 28, 10 25 a.m. RUGBY, Jail. 27. The Home Secretary (Sir Samuel Hoare) announces that in order to gather information about the methods of treatment of juvenile delinquency ho is holding a conference of people interested in these problems. One of the objects will be to discover the percentage of “dull” children in ordinary schools and Homo Office schools. Sir Samuel remarked: “Home Office schools are not prisons, but schools—and very good ones. About 8000 boys and girls are being trained in them and when it is realised how many have been handicapped by poverty, unsatisfactory homes, and mental or physical backwardness, their success has been remarkable.”
