PERSONAL.

Mr T. E. Bonds, who wa.s formerly on the staff of the W’est End School, Palmerston North, and latterly in charge of the Konini School, has been appointed first assistant at the Aramoho School, Wanganui. The Minister of Railways (Hon. D. G. Sullivan) accompanied by the General Manager (Mr G. H. Mackley) was due to leave Wellington this afternoon for New Plymouth. Mr Sullivan will investigate railway matters about which local bodies have made representations.

Dr George Ernest Barnett, of Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A., one of America’s distinguished economists, will arrive in New Zealand shortly on a brief visit. Dr Barnett is a professor of political economy, and has been professor of statistics at the John Hopkins University since 1911.
