ADDINGTON SALE. fat lambs firmer. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 26. Entries in mtost sections of the Addington market to-day showed a decline on those of last week, fat sheep being principally affected. There was a firmer sale for fnt lambs, while sheep recovered part of last week’s drop. Store 6hcep were unaltered, and fat cattle, except for best sorts, were easier.
Storo sheep.—Between 8000 and 9000 were penned, mostly wether lambs, which sold at little change. Forward wethers were firm, and some good pens of ewes were in demand. Best two-tooths made 30s; best wether lambs, 17s to 18s 7d; forward wethers, 21s to 245. Fnt lambs.—llso were penned, of slightly belter quality. For prime sorts butchers paid up to 8d per lb, others at schedule price.
Fat sheep.—Nearly 6000 wore penned, as against 7500 last week. Best wethers were firmer by up to la 6d, heavy ewes by at least Is, and freezing sorts were firm at late rates. Extra prime wethers made to 33s 4d, good 29s 6d to 345, prime medium 27s to 295; best ewes, to 295, good 22s to 245, medium 18s to 21s, light down to 14s. Fat cattle.—Good cattlo maintained last week’s rates, but medium cows and unfinished steers were down by 10s a head. Best steers made from £l4 to £l7, good £l2 to £l3 15s, light down to £8 15s; best heifers to £l2 7s 6d, good £9 10s to £ll, light down to £5; best cows to £ll ss, good £8 to £lO 10s, light down to £4.
Fat pigs.—A heavy entry, but slightly better prices. Porkers realised 34s 6d to 53s 6d, an average price a lb of 6d to 6id ; baconers, 54s 6d to £3 193 6d, an average a lb of sjd to 6jd. Store pigs: The market was from 2s to 3s per head better. Weaners made 15s to 225; slips, 23s to 265; stores, 32s to 37s 6d. SALE AT LEVIN. LEVIN, Jan. 26. ' The weekly stock sale was held at the Levin yards yesterday. Practically a total clearance was made- under the hammer at full late rates, with, the exception of beef, which showed a slight easing, due largely to an oversupply. Realisations: Pigs.—Light porkers 30s to £2, medium £2 2s to £2 7s 6d, heavy £2 10s to £2 15s; baconers, £3 to £3 12s 6d; heavy choppers, £2 15s to £3; weaners, 12s to 17s; slips, 19s 6d to 22s ; stores, 255» to 27s 6d; sows to farrow, £2 to £3 10s. Sheep: Shorn fat ewes, 17s lOd; woolly 24s 4d; fat lambs, 18s to 20s; extra prime fat lambs, 25s 6d; fat hoggets, 245; forward wethers, 22s lOd, good shorn lambs, 15s to 16s; good woolly lambs, 17s to 17s sd; four-year ewes, 235; small lambs, 8s 3d to 10s 4d, medium 11s 2d to 13s 6d. Cattle: Light fat cows, £3 15s to £4 ss, medium £4 10s to £5, heavy £5 5s to £6 10s; small vealers, 30s to £2; good vealers, £2 5s to £2 10s; runners, £3 to £5; empty cows, 30s to £3 12s 6d; cows and calves, £7 10s to £8 10s; heavy potter bulls, £6 5s to £7 15s. Dairy stock: Springing dairy cows, £7 to £9; springing heifers, £3 7s 6d. STORTFORD LODGE. HASTINGS, Jan. 26. Due to yesterday’s storm interfering with the transport of stock there were unusually small yardings in all classes at the Stortford Lodge sale to-day. Fat cattle.—A pen of large-framed heavy Jersey-cross bullocks made to £ll 9s lOd; three solidly finished Aberdeen Anguscross bullocks, £l3 ss; smallcr-grown bullocks, £lO 17s 6d; three large-framed me-dium-finished Aberdeen Angus bullocks, £11; pen of medium to well-finished Abordoen Angus heifers, to £9 ss; medium to heavy crossbred heifer £8 12s ; medium to heavy prime finished Aberdeen Anguscross heifers, to £9 14s; a further pen, £7 15s to £9 2s 6d; four dehorned med-ium-grown Hereford heifers, to .£8 6s; aged Aberdeen Angus cows, plain finish, £5 2a; four dehorned Hereford cows, £7 10s; aged Aberdeen Angus cows, to £7 12s 6d Ten well-grown Aberdeen Angus bullocks, £9 12s 6d: 11 Aberdeen Angus steers, very forward condition, £lO 2s 6d. Fat sheep were firm on recent rates. Store sheep: A line of 164 aged fattening ewes in light condition made 10s 9d; 178 mixed aged wethers, good store condition, 22s lOd; 150 medium-grown woolly whitefaced wether lambs, 15s 8d; medium-grown short white-faced wether lambs, good store order, 14s 9d; small grown mixed-sex Down-cross lambs, 10s 7d.
BURNSIDE MARKET. !Per Press Association. DUNEDIN. Jan. 26. Fat cattle were firmer at the Burnside stock sale to-day, but values for mutton failed to show any improvement. Prime heavy wethers made to £1 12s; prime, £1 7s to £1 8s 6d; medium, £1 33 6d to £1 ss; light down to £1 Os 9d; extra prime heavy young owes to £1 7s 6d; prime to £1 4s; medium, 16s 6d to 18s 6d ; light down to 13s 6d. Some very good lambs were offered. WESTFIELD VALUES. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Jan. 26. Firm values at recent schedule rates were obtained for beef at Westfield to-day. Tho largo yarding included first-class ox, although the quality of cows and heifers was patchy. Extra choice ox sold at 40s. choice and prime 34s to 395, unfinished 28s to 335; prime cow and heifer beef, 30s to 375, unfinished 80s to 29s a 1001 b. Extra heavy steers realised £l4 to £l4 15s, heavy £l2 15s to £l3 10s, medium £ll 5s to £1212s 6d, light £lO to £ll, unfinished £8 to £9 15s ■ extra heavy cows and heifers, £9 to £l2 12s 6d, heavy £7 to £8 17s 6d, medium £6 10s to £7 10s, light £5 to £6 15s, unfinished £3 to £4 15s. Ileavy supplies of good quality sheep met with strong and steady competition, firm values ruling.
