Miss Clarice Sapwell, of Roy Street, Palmerston North, who is spending a holiday in Rotorua and Tauranga, will later proceed to Auckland, where Bhe will in future reside.
Mrs Shirley, of Palmerston North, is spending a holiday in Patea, where she is the guest of her mother, Mrs C. A. Larcombe.
Mrs G. H. Jarrett, who has been spending a holiday with her sister, Miss L. A. Okey, Vogeltown, New Plymouth, has returned to Palmerston North.
Mrs A. Edwards and Miss Colleen Routley, of Kaikohe, Auckland, who are touring New Zealand by car, have been the guests of Mrs A. E. Wright, Waldegrave Street, Palmerston North.
After spending a holiday at Kenepuri Sound, Miss E. Rawlins, of Brightwater Terrace, Palmerston North, lias returned home. Mr and Mrs G. G. Hancox and family, formerly of Palmerston North, have taken up their residence at School House, Master ton, where Mr Hancox will shortly assume his duties as headmaster of the Wairarapa College.
At the monthly meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Auxiliary, which was held yesterday afternoon, it was decided to send a letter of sympathy to Mrs F. J. Nathan, who was unable to attend owing to the indisposition of Mr Nathan.
Miss D. E. Horton, M.A., lately on the staff of the Girls’ High School. Palmerston North, has been appointed additional teacher at the Matamata District High School in accordance with the school’s rise in grade. Miss Horton has had previous secondary experience at the Normal School, Christchurch, the District High School, Greytown, the Auckland Girls’ Grammar School, and the Auckland Technical School.
The marriage of Miss Edith Elizabeth Page, and Mr Hubert Carter, the well known New Zealand tenor, has been arranged for February 19, according to advice received from England. Mr Carter is arranging to visit the Dominion with his wife, who is a brilliant pianist, in 1940. Regret was expressed at the monthly meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, which was held yesterday afternoon, at the pending departure from Palmerston North of Mrs W. M. Huntington, who has capably carried out the combined duties of secretary and treasurer for some time. Mr Huntington, who is on the staff of the Palmerston North Post Office, has received notice of his transfer to Wellington.
