TURQUOISE FASHIONS.

PREDICTIONS FOR 1938

It is predicted that turquoise, both the stone and tho tint, will soon dominate things as regards frocks and lurnishings (states an Australian writer). Women just returned from Paris say that the shops are again “featuring tho stones that, for nearly half a century have been out of the running, and that they arc for the most part set in gold—another revival. Since the turquoise-and-gold jewellory is fashionable, you will be wise to look out for odd bits you possess, and see what may be done with them. Tho wide Victorian bracelets will need no renovation at all, for they are right in the mode, as are also the long ear-rings. Tho little forget-me-not posy rincj of turquoises, with a pearl or rose-diamond in the centre, may he made smaller to fit the little finger. And tho necklets can have the pendants taken off and come right away into use with the black crepe and satin frocks which must figure in every woman’s wardrobe for some tunc to come. The big bosses of turquoises, sot closclv together, can usually he detached from their backgrounds and used to form effective clips for berets. As for the colour, turquoise is the last word in both wallpapers and hangings. In padded and quilted satin it is featured in bedspreads and cushion covers, tho green or the blue tint predominating according to tho views of the furnisher. Decorators have decided that it is even more pleasing than apple-green when used with pickled pine and bleached limowood, and manufacturers are _ developing both glass and china in it. So for the present turquoise-organ-die-olad ladies will emerge from tur-quoise-taffeta-hung dressing-rooms to join other turquoise-adorned friends at turquoisc-papercd houses. We tend nowadays to become quickly standarised.
