HOROWHENUA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Jan. 24. A bowling tournament was held at the Otaki Railway green at the week-end, when nineteen rinks took part. Thorndon and Levin rinke tied for the trophies, the former winning in tho play-off. Mushrooms have been gathered from some of tho paddocks in and around Otaki. Mrs Blakoway, who has been on a visit to Otaki, has left for Woodville.A wind of ’gale force swept over Otaki for a short time this morning. Rain of a light nature also fell. Good progress is being mado with the erection of tho theatre; it is hoped to have tho building completed by February.
