OBITUARY.
CAPTAIN ADRIAN JONES. Received January 25, 10.20 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 24. The death has occurred of the sculptor. Captain Adrian Jones. Captain Jones executed the quadriga which surmounts the arch over Constitution Hill at Hyde Park Corner and the equestrian figure of the Duke of Cambridge in Whitehall, as well as the Cavalry Memorial in Hyde Park.
Captain Jones was bom in 1845. He was educated at Ludlow Grammar School. Ho eefvcd 23 years in the Army—in the 3rd Hussars, the Queen’s Bays, and the 2nd Life Gdarde —and took part in the Abyssinian war of 1868 and the first Boer War of 1881. Ho was also with the Nile Expedition. He was awarded the gold medal of the Royal Society of British Sculptors in 1935. His works include the statues of Duncan’s Horses, Matornal Caro, Triumph, Royal Marines Monument (St. _ James’s Park), Soldiers’ National Memorial (Adelaide), Carabineers’ Memorial (Chelsea Embankment), in addition to those mentioned in the message above.
