WEDDING.
TRANSOM—PIERCY
Much friendly interest centred in a wedding celebrated at St. Peter s Church, yesterday afternoon, when ltuba Eva, youngest daughter of Mrs and the late John Piercy, of Palmerston North, was married to Richard, eldest son of Mrs and the late Joseph Transom, of Taihape. The ceremony was performed by Rev. F. S. Ramson, in a setting of pink and blue hydrangeas artistically arranged by friends of the bride. Mr H. S. I’orteous played the wedding music. Escorted by her brother-in-law. Mr C. C. Hills, of Longburn, the bride was a graceful figure in a slim-fitting gown of delicate apricot satin beante, made with a full skirt, the bodice buttoning at the back. Over this she wore a cafe an lait silk lace redingote with short puffed sleeves, caught at the waist line with a spray of apricot roses. A picture hat of silk crinoline straw lined with net and trimmed with a plaited band of apple green and apricot velvet ribbon and finished with sprays of apricot roses —one at the hack and the other tucked under the brim—cafe au. lait gloves and shoes and a lovely arm sheaf of apricot gladioli, completed her charming ensemble.
Miss Shirley Hatherell, of Hastings, niece of the bride, attended her in a frock of apple green taffeta with a green pin-spot overdress banded at the hem with taffeta, also a green net bolero with puffed sleeves and bands of taffeta. A ,dainty green taffeta halo with bands of net across the head was worn, also green shoes ,aml she carried a bouquet of gold and pink gladioli. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr A. Fookes, of Taihape. After the ceremony, the many guests were entertained by Mrs Piercy, the bride’s mother, at a reception rt Messrs Collinson and Cnnnmghame s tearooms, which were beautifully decorated with gladioli which toned with the bridal colour scheme. The \vedding cake, taking pride of place at the centre table, also carried out the colour scheme. Mrs Piercy received her guests wearing a black silk ensemble with _ black straw hat with a spotted eye-veil and black accessories, her posy being oi lavender. She was assisted by Mrs Transom, mother of the bridegroom, who was wearing a navy and white frock and navy coat, and carried a posv of reel enmations and gladioli. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a gold watch and to the bridesmaid a leather handbag. The bride s gift to her ’groom was a set of hair brushes. m . ~ , When Mr and Mrs Transom left for their honeymoon, the bride was wearing a smart suit of brown crinkle taffeta with a mustard blouse and hat and brown accessories. The bridal couple who were the recipients of many beautiful presents and congratulatory telegrams, will make their new home in Taihape Wlien leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by Anno Paul, her god-child.
