ADVENTISTS’ CAMP.
LECTURE ON ARMAGEDDON. There was again a large attendance at the public lecture given last night at the Seventh Day Adventists’ camp at the Showgrounds. The speaker was Mr J. Alexander Lawson, of Melbourne, whose subject was “Armageddon.” Mr Lawson traced the activities leading up to the Great War and of the preparations for another conflict. He particularly referred to the defiant attitude of Japan, whose ambitions were not confined entirely to China, lie said. The Japanese believed that they were sons of the gods. All these events were foretold in Biblical prophecy. Armageddon, which would immediately precede the second coming of Christ, would, he concluded, be fought on the planes of Megiddo, the scene of the greatest conflicts of antiquity.
PUBLIC LECTURE. FORMER PALMERSTON RESIDENT. Special interest was taken in the public lecture given at the Seventh Day Adventist camp on Monday, in view of the fact that the speaker (Mr S. T. Leeder) is a former Palmerston North resident. Mr Leeder was born in this city but of recent years has been doing mission work in the South Sea Islands. On Saturday last he was ordained as a minister. Mr Leeder took as - his subject, “Signs showing the Imminent Return of Christ,” and he made extensive use of Biblical prophecy to support his contention. His remarks were followed with interest by a large attendance.
