FOXTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) ' FOXTON, Jan. 24. Mice M. Jenkins, of the staff of (lie Palmerston North Hospital, was a visitor to Foxton last week as the guest of Mr and Mrs E. Titcombe. Rev. and Mrs Burgin have returned home after spending a holiday in Napier and Auckland. Misses I. Smith and H. Hinds have returned to Foxton after a holiday in New Plymouth. Mr Bruce Smith, son of Mr and Mrs G. F. Smith, of Park Street, left for Wellington during the week-end, having accepted a position with a firm of accountants in the city. Miss B. Crawford left Foxton yesterday for Marton. Mr W. M. Thomas, who for the past five and a half years has been in charge of the local branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia, lias i'ccoivcd advice of his transfer on promotion to Motueka. The vacancy will be filled by Mr A. V. Taylor, of Christchurch. Nurse Sutherland, the District Nurse stationed at Foxton, has returned from a holiday tour in the north. Sister Willis, who was in. chargo during Nurse Sutherland’s absence, left for Palmerston North on Friday. Mrs J. H. Robinson and Miss L. Robinson, of Beach Road, and Mrs E. M. Wyllic and family, of Thvnnc Street, have roturned from Wellington. Mr and Mrs H. W. McConchie. of Avenue Road, have been spending a holiday in the South Island.

On Anniversary Day a pairs tourney was hold orf the local bowling green, when 20 players took part. Four games of nine heads each were played. Three skips tied with three wins each —D. Christie. Webster, and Robinson. In the play-off Christie won. Among the leads, M. Dunn won with four wins.

The combined picnic of Oddfellows and Druids was held in ideal weather on Saturday on Mr Argus’s farm. Sports results were: —Boys: K. Robinson 1. W. Robinson 2. W. Murray 3; girls, M. Fuller 1, R.
