BULLS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Jan. 26.
Mr P. Doughty returned home last week-end after an enjoyable tour abroad covering nearly eight months. Leaving New Zealand on the Remucra, lie proceeded direct to England, and after visiting several 'places there, went to the Continent. He was in Germany several times and also visited Belgium, France, Holland, Switzerland, Austria-Hungary, Northern Italy and Czechoslovakia. He visited the Paris Exposition, and on one trip to Germany reached Berlin on the day after Hitler and Mussolini had reviewed the troops. He then returned to England, and sailed in the Queen Mary for New York. The huge steamer, he says, resembled a floating township, with its shops and everything which a tourist could desire. He met relatives in Philadelphia, and then went by rail across the continent to Los Angeles, and visited Hollywood, the show place of the East. Mr Doughty then proceeded to Sari Francisco, where he left for home. In England he was impressed with the wonderful strides made by the building industry, the housing scheme going ahead in leans and bounds. Everywhere he was hospitably received, and the trip was a memorable one. While in England Mr Doughty met an erstwhile Bulls resident, Mr E. V. Elbourne, who is keeping in fair health, and inquired kindly of many old friends in Rangitikei. Mr L. Ransom, son of Mr R. J. Ransom Bulls, has been gazetted as a pilot officer of the Royal N.Z-. Air Force. Mr II Richards is visiting Wellington. Miss MBerta Beavis, of Bulls, is to be congratulated on passing the Training College Entrance examination.
