CHILD’S DEATH.
ELECTROCUTED IN STREET. BROKEN POWER WIRE. As the result of coming in contact with a broken electric power wire yesterday afternoon, a. child, six years of age, John Neville Wrigley, son of Air and Airs John Eric Wrigley, of 30 Haydon Street, was killed instantly. A strong wind during the day had evidently brought down the wire, which was a 230-volt “feeder” leading from the service line in Haydon Street across the road into the residence of Air AV. F. AVa.lshaw. The child, it appears, -left home at about 1.45 p.m. on an errand and bad proceeded about 200 yards down the street towards the Vogel Street intersection, when he touched the swinging wire, with fatal consequences. It was Air AValslvw who first noticed the plight of the boy. and be rushed to render aid. He wisely ascertained that the wire was then “dead” and pulled the lad free. Life was then extinct. however. There were no burns on the bov’s hands and it was obvious that, death was instantaneous. The child’s father is employed as a motor driver. An inquest was’opened at the residence this morning before Afr A. J. Graham. Coroner, for the. purpose of identification, and was adjourned.
