FRESH IN OROUA RIVER.

OVER AN INCH OF RAIN. Evidence of heavy rain in the back country north of Feilding was found in the state of the Oroua River at Aorangi this morning. The river was running bank high and the water was very discoloured. Mr F. Mason, of Sandon Road, Feilding, reports that for the 48 hours ended at 9 a.m. to-day 119 points of rain fell in Feilding. During the past 24 hours .74in was registered. There has also been a substantial drop in the temperature,; the maximum yesterday was 69 degrees in the shade compared with 88 before the rain. This morning at 9 o’clock the reading was 68 degrees. Mr Mason stated that the barometer this morning was rising rapidly a.nd he considered that there would not be much more rain at present.
