ACTIVITIES AT AWAPUNI. BRUNHILD ON TRACKS. CLETRAC’S*SCHOOLING ROUND. (By ‘ Spectator.’’) Following the racing at Trentham, horses who had been engaged there did restricted work at the Awapuni track this morning, and the only galloping done was by candidates for the Pahiatua and larannki mootings. The course was on the holding side, and the flags were 40ft. out. Brunhild, who has emerged from hei Trentham racing in tip-top condition, and is to race at Taranaki, was seen out on the track this morning. Moving nicely, the Siegfried filly was allowed to run along over six furlongs. Instead of returning direct to Hastings, she is in the charge of J. Coylo before going on to New Plymouth. * . , Cletrac, who claims engagements in the hurdles at New Plymouth, went very well over a schooling round, jumping perfectly, though the pace was not on.. Though it was his first work of this nature the Woodvillo meeting, where he was a double winner, lie shaped very confidently in the hands of C. Thomson. Clarion Call, who is being prepared for winter jumping, is steadily improving in condition. He did useful work on the plough. . Horses exercised on the inner track were The Bigot, Royal Choice, Dainty but-, Great Legion, Royal Limond, Bodylme. Sudan, Manawatu, Taillight, VVarehi, and Oriwai. Picked up bv Fair Day (Cape Horn Fair One) at the three furlongs peg, Rloii Ace, who is to race at Pahiatua, ran six furlongs in 1.24 j, but his companion was able to lead him home, covering the three furlong 9in 41 l-ssec. , , , . Round Score, who lias lately been doing his racing in highweight company, is enjoying a let-up after his outings at Manawatu and Trentham. Hunting Queen (I. Howe), who remains in the field for the Pahiatua Cup, was going comfortably over a mile in 1.51 1-5, the last three furlongs taking 41 l-ssec. Ambition (Lilley) was given three-quar-ter pace work and then speeded up to run three furlongs in 41Jsec. Aero Lad (A. McCormac), for whom there are no immediate engagements, did a steady six furlongs. Great Hope, who has bad just enough, racing to keep him in first-class condi* tion, was confined to pace work. The Marton and Ashhnrst winner looks well. Bodyline, who always seems to be a trifle unlucky in his races, but invariably runs well, is to be taken to the Wairoa and Gisborne meetings, for which he will temporarily join the team of H. S. Greene, of Greenmeadows. It is possible that his mentor, Mrs A. W. McDonald, who will have a team at New Plymouth, will take some horses north for the Te Arohameet'"fjorence Mills, who disappointed at both Ellerslie and Trentham in her onlv_ start at each fixture, may yet make amends for these failures. She has been cased up, but will be kept in light work. Merryman (Chisholm), who won a maiden event at the Manawatu meeting and will next start at Pahiatua, ran six furlongs in 1.22, cutting out the last three in 394 sec. The lialUbrother to Manawatu was going along easily, and it was a very satisfactory effort. Bluffer (W. Little), who did not fulfil her engagement at Ashhnrst, but will bkewise be racing at Pahiatua at_ the end of this week, ran seven furlongs in 1.33 4-o. the last six taking 1.20. Both she and Brazil will probably be ridden by U U. Goulsbro if he has recovered from his teg injury, failing which W. Little will have the mounts. , , La Premiere (J. Chaplin), the speedy little Iliad—Merit filly, received a start from Brazil (Little) over five furlongs, but her companion was able to head her on the post in 1.6 - The y OHM 11 ? “ rst three furlongs in 39isec. Brazil is having his first start at Pahiatua, and La Premiere will probably make her debut at the Woodvillo meting. Lady Ina, whose form has been very consistent for tho past two months, is none the worse for her racing at Trentham and this good sprinter will now be treated to a spell until Easter. Surmount, whose next engagement will be in the Taranaki Stakes, has come through his racing at Trentham in g?ocl style, and was out this morning doing light exercise.
