Britain’s largest passenger airliner, the first of fourteen Armstrong Whitworth Ensign monoplanes which have been built for Imperial Airways, had its first test flight to-day. It is so huge that trees and fences had to he removed to permit of its entrance to the aerodrome. it has a wingspan of 123 feet, an overall length oi 114 feet, and a full load weight of 42 tons. The machine is fitted with four 880-horse-power engines and lias a top speed of 200 miles an hour and a cruising speed of 165 miles an hour. The landing wheels are 6ft high and the wings arc 20ft from the ground* She carries forty-two passengers.
