FELL OVERBOARD.

BUT LATER FOUND. WOMAN’S REMARKABLE ESCAPE. Received January 24, 10.5 a.m. BRISBANE, Jan. 23. During the voyage of the Macdhui between Sydney and Brisbane during the week-end, Miss Nellie Buckingham, aged 27, a school-teacher, was missed from her cabin. The vessel was taken back 17 miles on what appeared a vain search, when the woman was discovered floating six miles out at sea off Sandy Cape little the worse, for her experience. She had been in the water for over two hours.

The passengers subscribed £25 to the Shipwreck Relief Fund in recognition of the captain’s humane action.
