MASS RESISTANCE
CHINESE IN TRAINING. STUDENTS’ CAMPAIGN. WARFARE IN SHENSI. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received January 22, 8.5 a.m. SHANGHAI, Jan. 21. The British United Press correspondent here says that China’s millions are hastily mobilising a trained mass resistance.
The University of Canton is closing to enable students to engage in a “missionary” campaign on behalf of the uniformed militia.
An additional 200,000 are training in guerrilla tactics. Nearly 1,000,000 ar© reported to have enlisted in the sell-defence corps in the Shensi Province while the province of Hunan is establishing a commission to direct mass training. , ''Guerrilla forces continue to take toll of the Japanese near Talyuam, the capital of Shensi; also at Cliuensha, east of Shanghai. It has been officially announced, from Hankow that nine executions of Chinese were carried out for failure to perform their duties. The names are not 1 given, but the ranks are one army corps commander, Brigadier, a court martial Judge, chief telegraph officer, two regimental commanders, and three battalion commanders.
